Totem Poles
For her, Didi Dike draws on four traditional sculptural forms: the house post that is the hallmarks of the Oba House of the Ohafia-Bende-Abriba belt (her paternal source); an elongated or stretched version of the Ikenga from her material source in the Awka-Onitsha axis; the Yoruba verandat post without its naturalistic aspects; and the ancestral staff that is common to Benin (Ukhurhe), Igala (Okute) and Ijebu (Okute).
